Sublime Text is a popular proprietary cross-platform source code editor. This article will demonstrate how to install Sublime Text 3 into Ubuntu or its derivatives such as Linux Mint.
The personal package archive in which Sublime Text resides must be added to the repository list of the package management system:
root@computer:~# add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/sublime-text-3
The package list file must be updated before Sublime Text can be installed:
root@computer:~# apt update
Sublime Text can be installed from webupd8team using Apt:
root@computer:~# apt --assume-yes install sublime-text-installer
After the installation is completed Sublime Text can be started from the terminal via a binary called subl located in the /usr/bin directory.
